Key 11 – This is your programme, not always your family’s

Accept that if you cook for others that you may often eat different food to them. Work out menus and meals that satisfy them but can be low fat for you, or have a low fat variation, and which wont make you feel too deprived. If you cook for others, think about their weight too and don’t become a vicarious feeder or force them to eat a low fat diet if it’s not appropriate for them. If you have to have food which you find challenging in the home, find ways to store and cook it which minimises temptation for you.

On the other hand, use your new programme to help improve their diet where you can.
